Sustainability

Designing for our clients, the environment, and the future.

With the adjective "green" now used to market anything environmentally friendly from paper towels to plumbing, it's easy to dismiss it as the latest trend. Yet when you look at the impact buildings have on the people who live, learn and work in them, it becomes clear that rather than just being another architectural style, green design is simply good design.

BCWH understands that our buildings will be a part of your community for decades to come, so we take steps to ensure that they provide for the people who will inhabit them today, as well as future generations. When you work with us, you will get what you pay for - smart design, built to last.

Some specific examples of BCWH's current sustainability efforts:
  1. Over 90% of technical staff is LEED accredited.
  2. We are members of the Virginia Sustainable Building Network - utilizing this resource to actively keep abreast of "green" knowledge and research.
  3. Several of our current projects are either LEED certified or in the process of seeking certification.
  4. BCWH, Trane, and VML are currently sponsoring the "Go Green Virginia VAIS Challenge" - encouraging schools to employ sustainable solutions through a friendly competition.
